My fondest memories of Poppop were playing pretty pretty princess, loosing to him in rummy, and seeing him every Sunday over Facetime. I remember he always managed to finish all of the food on his plate and have a grin on his face when asking for desert. Poppop was humorous and wholehearted and I was lucky to have him in my life when I was growing up. He will be greatly missed in our family.

My condolences to Ellie, Jeff, Scott and the entire Daniels family on their loss. I have known "Uncle Bill" since the I was a kid when visiting Long Island with my parents. I have nothing but fond memories of Bill and his amazing patience for all the shenanigans that my brother (Andy) and I would get into while visiting Bill and Nanie's home. Andy and I just loved visiting our family in Long Island as it was always quite an adventure for us Southern California suburban boys going to the Bill and Ellie's 3-4 acre plot that was covered in trees and with lots of ways to try to hurt ourselves. Bill was let us have lots of fun at their house and also taking us out in their boat to waterski, fish, and just enjoy the beach. Later in life I remember having the honor of golfing with Bill and outdriving him by 100 yards and then watch him put his third shot 2 feet from the hole for par while I was hacking it out of the woods or sand and then trying to make bogey or par. Hopefully I learned a life lesson from this. Another great memory we have is visiting the Daniels at their home with our two young kids in the 1990's and watching Bill gleefully shovel ice cream into the mouth of our youngest daughter Erin for dessert. I'm not sure who was enjoying the moment more - Erin or Bill. As the years went on and Bill's health declined, it was sad for everyone but he never lost his sweet spirit or twinkle in his eye. Whenever we were able to visit, it was always a pleasure to watch golf and Jeopardy with Bill or wait for him to request a second bowl of ice cream after dinner. One thing is for sure is that he never lost his appetite and especially his desire for dessert. It was an honor to know Bill and be just a small part of his life. He was a great man, husband, father and for my brother and me, an amazing Uncle. We will miss him greatly.
