Obituary of Odysseas Lagonikos

Lagonikos, Odysseas of Wantagh suddenly passed on February 1, 2013 in his 84th year. Born in Othos, Karpathos, Greece and grew up in the village of Othos. During WW II he lived in Agia Paraskevi, Athens, Greece. Odysseas came to The United States in 1947 and lived in Manhattan. He was first employed in the fur industry. He joined the Merchant Marines during the Korean War, 1950-1953. In 1959 he married Irene Tsangarakis and they lived in Washington Heights while he continued to work in the fur industry. In 1962 they moved to Long Island where he owned and operated the Flagship Restaurant in Freeport, NY. In the 1970's he worked in the aluminum siding industry. In the 1980's Odysseas returned to the fur industry where he retired in the year 2000. Beloved husband of Irene. Loving father of Teddy and his wife Peggy and Frangitsa and her husband Stelios Bertos. Cherished grandfather of Irene and Nicholas. Reposing Nolan & Taylor-Howe Funeral Home, 5 Laurel Avenue, Northport, NY. Funeral Tuesday 11 am at St. Paraskevi G.O. Church, Greenlawn, NY. Interment to follow at Northport Rural Cemetery, Northport, NY. Visiting hours Monday 2-5 & 7-9 PM. Donations to St. Panteleimonas, Othos, Karpathos, Greece, in his memory, appreciated.
