Owen- David J. of Northport NY died unexpectedly Thursday February 17, 2011 at the age of 78. He is survived by his best friend and companion Sandra Loughran, and four sons, David Jr., Kevin, Randy, and Darren as well as eight grand children, Catherine, Mark, Paul, Timothy, Daniel, Monica, Meghan and Jenae and his siblings, Audrey, Betsy and Tom. Dave was an electrical engineer for Airborne Instruments Laboratory before starting his own engineering firm, NTL where he designed products for both the military and public. He led an active life and one of his favorite past times was flying. Among his fulfilled dreams was traveling to Russia to fly their MIG aircraft. His youngest son caught the bug and is now a pilot for Delta Airlines. Dave was a veteran of the U.S. Air force, and served during the Korean war. Helping others seemed to energize him. He gave of himself freely, depended on by many for advice and help. He will be sorely missed. Visitation is Sunday February 27 from 5-9 pm at Nolan & Taylor - Howe Funeral home (5 Laurel Ave., Northport, NY/ www.nthfh.com ) A mass will be held Monday, February 28 9:30am at Our Lady Queen of Martyrs church Centerport, NY with interment to follow at Long Island National cemetery.
