I am so saddened to hear my oldest friend has passed. We were born almost the same time on Laurie ct. In 1965. I moved away to pa. When I was7. My grandparents still lived in Northport. So every time I would come to ny we would get together. The la s t time I saw him we were in high school. He was going into the service right after. Over the last few years I searched for him on fb but to no avail. I would love to learn more about his life

Larry was a dear friend who I met at Reuters 15 years ago. If I had to describe Larry in one word, it would be “unselfish.” He would always ask how people were doing, and he would really care and listen when they answered. Larry loved to tell jokes because he loved to make people laugh. He was remarkably intelligent and yet very much still a kid at heart. Larry often talked about his family, and his interest in music and photography. He also loved decorating at Christmas. He showed everyone pictures of his home and the Christmas decorations he had put up. His Christmas tree was so beautiful that I went out and bought the same Christmas tree and still have it to this day. Larry made a difference in anyone’s life who met him, whether it was just for 5 minutes or whether they knew him for many years. His enthusiasm was contagious and he brightened any room he was in with his positive attitude and his smile. I am devastated that he is no longer with us, and at the same time, I am thankful that I had the privilege of knowing him and having him as my friend. Larry was a special person who made a difference in so many people’s lives who were lucky enough to know him. I know he made a difference in mine. My prayers and sincerest condolences go out to his family.

Larry was a dear friend I worked with for many years. He had a smile that could light up an entire room. He was always so generous with his time and knowledge. Sad for us to see such a great person leave our earthly dwelling. Watch over us all, our friend, and Rest In Piece.
"God looked around His garden And found an empty place. He then looked down upon the earth And saw your tired face. He put his arms around you And lifted you to rest. God’s garden must be beautiful He always takes the best. He saw the road was getting rough And the hills were hard to climb, So He closed your weary eyelids And whispered "Peace be thine". It broke our hearts to lose you But you didn’t go alone, For part of us went with you The day God called you home."

In its day Reuters in Hauppauge employed a lot of people but everyone knew Larry. His infectious smile, great sense of humor and level outlook on life which he readily shared made him a standout among the often introverted developers.
One day Larry told me about a great 'date' which I have done many times. He said to park at Robert Moses Field 5 and walk to Kismet at dusk. Then have dinner at "the Out" (now gone) or the other restaurant in Kismet. It's so cool walking back under the beam of the Fire Island Lighthouse especially when there is a full moon.
From time to time in the last year I would see Larry at 3XSQ and despite everything he had been through he was still his same old self; upbeat, funny and with a wide smile.

I worked on a big project with Larry, him in NYC and me in the UK, and we spent probably hundreds of hours on the phone designing software and working through the details of how to build it.
Despite the distance, we became friends, and I will always remember his enthusiasm and energy, and his desire and tenacity to build things that actually work.
From London, I offer my heart felt condolences to his family and friends.

Larry found out that I liked tea. He would often invite me in the afternoon for a cup. No matter how crazy the day I always found those few minutes a wonderful escape. I will miss his sense of humor most.

Larry was ALWAYS happy to share his passions with you. All you had to do was ask and he was there!
Music and photography were two of his passions that we shared. His generousity was truly spectacular and will be remembered by all involved during one special day.
Larry volunteered to join an event that was run with money obtained from the Reuters Foundation to bring some fun into the lives of children schooled at Nassau AHRC. These children are all physically and/or mentally challenged.
Larry had volunteered the year before and had taken candid and posed pictures of many of the people involved. However this year he decided that he was going to take a picture of each and every child that took part in the festivities and to MAKE SURE that he got the best possible picture.
He set up what looked like to all, a professional photography studio using all of his own equipment inside the school's gymnasium. He was so driven to take wonderful picture of subjects whose pictures did not always show their personalities as these subjects do not, for the most part, understand posing for a picture or how to say "CHEESE!"
Larry showed infinite patience throughout the entire day and produced work that brought many tears to people's eyes when they saw his photos of the children.
His love of life and his ability to love those who, for the most part, he never had met before and had no connection to, made me realize just what a special person Larry Stenson truly is and will always be He will remain in our hearts and our minds forever.
You are greatly missed Larry, but wherever you are I know that you are smiling that warm and loving smile of yours! Rest In Peace my friend...

I worked with Larry at Reuters in Hauppauge. My memories however are from the many ski trips with the memorable bus rides where we all would have a great time. On one of those trips, Larry introduced me to Ben and Jerrys Chunky Monkey ice cream which is a favorite to this day.
Larry was always energetic and passionate about everything his did. Last time I saw him, he had returned to Reuters (or was it Thomson Reuters by then) as a consultant where he felt he could once again make a contribution.
You'll always be remembered fondly. You're gone much too soon.

I worked with Larry at Reuters in the late 90's and early 2000. He was SMART, FUN, TALENTED... He was a really great person to work with. Over the years, it was always a highlight to catch up with him at a holiday get-together with the old Reuter crew. He will be missed. Larry... Rest In Peace My Friend.

We remember Larry's beautiful smile and spirit and my children still talk so fondly about the hikes we took with him when he and Laura visited us in Virginia years ago. I am so thankful to have those beautiful memories of him and we will think of him each time we take that walk to the river. God bless Laura, his siblings and all of those whose lives he touched. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.
