Obituary of Wilbur D. Boccard

Boccard, Wilbur D., born October 3, 1924, was the fourth son of six boys in Huntington, NY to Dominick and Elizabeth Boccard. He was married to his high school sweetheart Ruth Marie Wareing for 62 years who predeceased him of 2008. Together they raised 6 boys and 2 girls, Dan and wife Beth, Richard and Susie, Fred and Sue, Thomas and Joann, William and Sue, John and Maryann along with his daughters Ruth and her husband Michael Holt and Dianne and Patrick Valiando. Wilbur and Ruth also leave behind 56 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren. Wilbur's family meant everything to him. He cherished and was very proud of all of his family and their accomplishments. Wilbur served in the Navy during World War II. A lifelong resident of Huntington, he actively served in many organizations; The Red Cross, Multiple Sclerosis, Boy Scouts, Catholic Charities, P.T.A., Meals on Wheels, Holy Name Society, Knights of Columbus and was also a lifetime member of Huntington Elk's Club and the Huntington Crescent Club. He was a retired South Huntington Water Commissioner, Radio announcer, active in the Huntington Republican Party and founder and CEO of W.D. Boccard and Sons and Boccard Industries. He will be remembered for his commitment to his wife, Ruth Marie and love for his ever growing family. He will truly be missed by all. Reposing Nolan & Taylor-Howe Funeral Home, 5 Laurel Avenue, Northport, Friday (Today) 2-5 & 7-9 pm, Funeral Mass, Saturday 10 am, Saint Anthony of Padua Church, East Northport, Interment to follow, at Saint Patrick's Cemetery, Huntington.
