Obituary of Ralph M. Leutz

Ralph Leutz, a former bank executive died April 28, 2011 in Melville, NY. Prior to his retirement in 1982 Mr. Leutz was the Executive Vice President of the Heritage Federal Savings which later merged with the Anchor Savings Bank and is now part of the Dime Savings. Mr. Leutz was born in Boston, Massachusetts. The family moved to Forest Hills, Queens in the early twenties and to Huntington in 1937. He graduated from Richmond Hill High School in 1937. He attended Brooklyn Polytech for two years before joining the U.S. Coast Guard where he served in the North Atlantic. He was a charter member of the L.I. Mortgage Officers Society and served as President in 1974. He was also a member of the Investment Committee of the N.Y. Savings and Loan League. Active in a variety of civic affairs, Mr. Leutz was a member of the Kiwanis Club of Huntington for many years and served as President in 1962. He was also active in Boy Scout Movement serving as Assistant Scoutmaster while living in Forest Hills. Mr. Leutz was an enthusiastic gardener and sailor. He was a member of the L.I. Chrysanthemum Society, L.I. Horticultural Society and the Lloyd Harbor Yacht Club. Additionally he participated in the early morning lap swim at the Huntington YMCA for many years. Mr. Leutz's wife Harriet predeceased him. There are four children; Nancy Lawson of W. Orange, NJ, Suzanne Cavanaugh of Northport, son Ralph Paul of Winter Haven, Fla and Debra Voltaggio of Huntington - There are eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
