Getty, Gladys Caroline - of Northport died peacefully at the home of her daughter in Maryland on August 3rd. She was born in 1920. She grew up on the Johnson farm on Elwood Road in East Northport and graduated from Northport High School on Laurel Avenue in 1936. She married James K. Getty of Northport in 1941 and their family moved to Northport in 1957. She was a long time member of the First Presbyterian Church of Northport, volunteer with the Salvation Army and became a licensed practical nurse in the 70's. She was preceded in death by her parents Frank Oscar and Alma Johnson and infant twins born of her daughter Pamela. She is survived by her daughters Pamela Stavis of Salem, Massachusetts and Donna Farabaugh of Edgewater, Maryland; grandchildren Brian Farabaugh, Jon Stavis, Cynthia Borga and Caroline Power and nine great grandchildren. Visiting at Nolan & Taylor-Howe Funeral Home, 5 Laurel Avenue, Northport, Monday August 8th from 2-5 & 7-9 and funeral service on Tuesday August 9th at 11 AM at Funeral Home, internment in family plot at Commack Cemetery, Commack, NY.
