Obituary of Jeanne Rita Carroll

Carroll - Jeanne Rita, daughter of William C. Armstrong and Jeanette M. Pfeifer, died on August 29, 2011 at the Teresian House in Albany, NY. She was 90 years of age. She was predeceased by her husband, William P. Carroll who died on February 26, 1994 at 75 years of age; and by her son, Timothy Joseph Carroll, who died in 1956 at ten months. Born in the Bronx, NY on March 5, 1921, and baptized into the Catholic Church on March 20, 1921, Jeanne was the oldest of three girls?the other two being Dorothy Ehret of Chicago who predeceased Jeanne, and Marian Rogers who lives in Mount Kisco, NY. Jeanne Armstrong married William Carroll on November 8, 1940 at the Church of Saints Peter and Paul in Mt. Vernon, NY. Jeanne gave birth to a total of eight children - Daniel (1942), William (1946), Michael (1947), Richard (1949), Mary (1952), Timothy (1956), and finally to twins, Peggy and Patricia (1958). Jeanne is also survived by sixteen Grandchildren and 17 Great Grandchildren. Besides raising her children, Jeanne's life was characterized as one of helping others. She was a part-time mother to emotionally disturbed youngsters at King's Park Hospital; a long-standing Minister of the Eucharist at St. Philip Neri Church in Northport; and Publicity Manager for the Volunteers for Youth Newsletter (1970). She became an Alcohol Counselor after training for two years (1977-1978) at The Institute of Alcohol Studies at South Oaks in Amityville, NY where she was awarded a Certificate of Alcoholic Training. In 1984 Jeanne became a Spiritual Director, after completing a two-year course in the School for Spiritual Direction and Inner Healing at the St. Joseph's Prayer Center in Melville, NY.
