Uncle George was my shoulder to cry on from early on which became evident when I found a photo of my parent's wedding. I was too shy to pose as flower girl so Uncle George lifted me up and stood behind my mother. He continued to lift me up after the passing of my mother, his frequent phone calls helped us both to mourn. They always began with his hearty "Hellooooo "KaKa", his endearing nickname for me always made me smile. Our talks would vary from the price of gas or the weather coming his way from PA, to stories about growing up on Sandy Hollow Road that I never heard before, including the Anderson family visits. He would always inquire "How are the boys and Steven?" Every call ended the same way... Uncle George would say "OK Karen, I love you" so he could hear me say "Love You More!" followed by his rolling resounding laugh then his melodic "So Long Now". These words will reverberate in my ears and heart forever.
