Obituary of Geoffrey Palmer Lewis

Lewis, Geoffrey Palmer, age 59, passed away to be with his Lord August 26, 2012, after a prolonged illness at home. Born in Long Island, NY, on December 12, 1952, Mr. Lewis goes to be reunited with his beloved wife of 29 years, Marilyn Lewis. Mr. Lewis graduated from Hofstra University on Long Island, NY. He and his wife moved to California where he established himself as drummer in the country-western band, Tin Star. After many successful years with the band, they moved to Murrells Inlet to be closer to family, where he ran his own hauling company while maintaining his love of music enjoying weekend jams with his musician friends. He and Marilyn bred and raised award-winning, service-trained Samoyeds, which he was devoted to after his wife's passing. Survivors include a sister, Linda Meeks (George) of Cincinnati, OH; a brother, Hewlett D. (Bonnie) Lewis of Conway, SC; a step-sister, Daryl L. Covington of Reston, VA; nieces and nephews, Christopher Miller of Atlanta, GA, Brendan (Christie) Miller of Ocean Isle Beach, NC, Richard Meeks of Cincinnati, OH, Jennifer Meeks of Cincinnati, OH, Carman L. (Oscar) Judd of Bloomington, IN and William H. (Sarah) Lewis of Columbia, SC. Mr. Lewis was predeceased by his wife Marilyn, his sister, Jane Sorensen, his mother Patricia P. Springer of Garden City, SC and his father Hewlett W. Lewis of Middleburg, VA. Mr. Lewis will be remembered for his beautiful music and his love and devotion to his family and friends and his beloved dogs. A graveside prayer service will be held at 3PM on Wednesday September 5 at the Northport Rural Cemetery, Sandy Hollow Road, Northport, NY.
