My dad was a great man. A wonderful loving husband to my mom for 45 years and a caring and supportive father to my brothers and I. He was the kind of man who wanted the best for his family. The kind of man who was reliable and loyal. He was an extremely talented carpenter. He even built the two houses that we grew up in. He was a hard worker, who worked for the same company, E.W. Howell, for 44 years. He instilled this work ethic into his children.
Dad was a quiet man. He didn't really say much, but when he had something to say, he made sure his voice was heard. Perhaps this is how he got the nickname "Wild Eagle." He had a great sense of humor. I am sure many of you have shared a laugh or two with him as I have.
I feel very lucky that he was my father. I know our time here on earth is limited, but it helps me to know that a little piece of him lives on through me and my daughter Elise. My husband Chris tells me that I wink at him the same way my dad winked at me. When I ask Elise to give me a kiss, she turns her cheek to one side (just as dad did) to receive one.
I will miss him dearly as I know all of you will. The memories you and I have shared with him will not be forgotten.
