Kokot- Joana Ivanka, of Barbichi, Croatia passed on May 16th 2016 within months of her 100 birthday. It is with sadness and great love that we record the passing of our beloved Nonie, Joana Ivanka Kokot, (left, pictured with her cousin Meniga Griparic on the right) who was born 99 years ago in what is now Croatia. Wake at Nolans in Northport this Thursday 2-5pm, 7-9pm, and Funeral at Saint Philips on this Friday at 10am. Though her mother died of the Spanish Flu when she was a little girl, she became the Valedictorian of her local grade school. However, due to family needs she never progressed past 5th grade, when primary education ended in her village. She had 4 children with her beloved husband Karlo of which two survived beyond infancy; Juliana and Aldo, 5 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. While your laugh, your love, your smile and your cooking will be missed, it is with Joy you are welcomed into Heaven!
