Hi. I'm Kayte. I'm not sure if I wrote to you here already, but I knew your dad for 40 years or so. I adored him. He is the most wonderful man I've ever known. He was my hero. I could go on and on right now....I just found out last Thursday that he passed. I am in mourning. If you would please reply to me, Laura , I'd be so great full. I have so much I want...no, I Need to share with you. I've written poems for him. He was to me a father figure. I'm so sorry for your loss. He loved you kids so very much. I know you are proud of him. My father was a monster. You're so lucky to have had him.
Sincerely,
Kayte

I make my way back "home" this weekend for the last time to a place I've called home for many years. I'm sad to have to say goodbye to such a great home that holds so many memories for all of us. However that home feels empty and sad without you there Pop. Its just not the same. I will take my time saying goodbye and will take certain mementos with me and will always have the great memories. In time we will move on without that house but we'll never forget all the fun times we had there. I hope your spirit will be able to move on from there too Pop and stay with all of us wherever we may go in life. I feel your strength w/me Pop especially at certain times when I really need it. Still can't believe you are gone and still have a hard time knowing you are no longer just a phone call away. Know that I'm always missing you Pop and hope you are proud of how I'm doing now as a Dad. Doing the very best that I can, hope you see that and are smiling. Love you buddy.

Happy Birthday Pop! I write you this bday wish w/tears in my eyes.... still can't believe you are gone. Not a day goes by that I don't think of you and wish that I could just give you a call to talk about anything at all...That was always one of my greatest comforts was to know that I had you just a phone call away. I miss that so much... you have no idea. Although I'm sure you do know as you are watching over all of us so you know all the times that I wish I could just give you a ring to talk. I know having you not be in pain now is much better than selfishly having you here and having you suffer the way that you did. Just can't help but miss you tons and want you back here w/us Pop. Just need to keep reminding myself that you are still w/us even if you are not physically here... You will always be with all of the family and friends you loved, looking out for us and smiling down upon us. I do manage to smile a bit when I think of that thought Pop as I know you will always be by my side no matter where I am. Just can't help but miss you buddy.... I love you Pop and will be having a nice dessert tonight in honor of your Birthday. It won't be a carvel cake because they don't have those where I'm at but I'll make sure its some sort of cake and I'll be celebrating you... My best Friend.... my Pop. Love you Buddy.
Love Matty

Hey Buddy, something brought me to this site tonight... maybe it was because 4th of July was yesterday and we were of course thinking of you. Guessing you were watching how lame the fireworks were in my neighborhood in CA. Don't worry I'll make a special trip next year to pick up some good ones to light off so you can see them from up above and I can show these people how to do fireworks the right way Pop. Miss you everyday buddy, but I know you are still with me. Best buddies always.
Love Matty

During my childhood and adulthood I had the privilege of being in Roger's company during family gatherings. I looked forward to spending time with him. He was so thoughtful and kind to everyone. His love for others would be expressed through his twinkly smile. I loved Roger very much and will miss him. I am happy that he"s with God and is no longer suffering.
Love and Prayers

Roger was a man with a light touch, an easy smile, and a high-achieving family who meant the world to him and in turn meant alot to the world around them. He and his family rallied around his health, the best tribute one could ever receive. Rest in peace.

Laura,
I am so sorry for your family's loss. I'm glad I had a chance to know something of him through his obituary, thank you for sharing. I'm also glad you to know that you made every effort to be with him over these last many years and that he no doubt found great comfort in your presence. I hope you and your brother can find some peace knowing that he is watching over you from above and that he is free of his pain. Loving Fathers are never forgotten, I know. Peace be with you,

I'm so sad that you're gone... but so relieved that you're no longer in pain, and that you and my Dad are back together again, watching over all of us. You've always felt like a second father to me, and I'll cherish all of the memories I have of you for the rest of my life.

Heartfelt condolences to Laura and the rest of the family. Though I knew Roger only a little, our few exchanges were warm ones, and I was touched by the messages here, which leave no doubt that he will be much missed.

To all - the obituary captured exactly what we know of your dad. He worked on our house many times and became to us Uncle Rog ... I can't say enough about yor dad and that his presence in this world was a true gift to all of us - and him leaving the world is very sad for all. You are so correct that he worked with a deep ethic to make everything he did beautiful and objected humor along the way. I will always remember how he allowed my son to help him on the many projects he did here for us. We were not in touch enough these past few years but when we were he assured us he was ok- we are so sorry that he wasn't able to win this last battle and have no doubt that he fought hard. He will always be in your hearts ans truly be your forever angel. He will know that grandchild even though he may have never gotten to meet them in person. God bless all of you. Our deepest condolences. We will truly miss Roger ! The Lonardo Family.

Roger was a warm sincere man ..... We were friends for 25 years.
He always did the right thing .... Such an honorable man. He was old fashioned because he shook your hand and he stood by his word. The world would be a better place if all people were as trusted as Roger was. He had loyal clients up state at Whaley Lake, in NYC, as well as all over Long Island. He was a perfectionist, but in a calm steady way. He always did right by all his relationships, business and personal. He was a free spirit but had roots deeply entrenched in his family. His legacy will live on through his children .... He will be surely missed ....
Sincerely
Janet Pushee

Your dad Roger built a beautiful deck on the front of our house. However, the thing I will always remember most about him was what a lovely man he was. We got along like a house on fire from day one. One day he wasn't feeling well and his partner told me about his diagnosis. Your dad insisted on finishing the job. We stayed in touch briefly by phone, until both of us were busy with life and family. I have wondered about him. How sad to hear he is gone. He was a lovely lovely man who talked about his grown children all the time. He so want to do grandchild. That alone allows me to believe that he died a happy man. Thank you for Letting me know the sad news of his passing, but I also am relieved that his suffering has ended and he is in a better place.

So many wonderful memories, abundant good times, and hearty laughs. I see you as I look around our home at the renovations you did. Yesterday, Jay called hid daughter "Tater", the nickname you gave him. Yankee games will now have new meaning. You are the "fun" cousin everyone wants to have. You will always be in my heart.
Missing you already,
Vanessa

Roger was one of the most generous people I have had the good fortune to meet. The last time we attended the famous 4th of July party, he invited Ginger's two daughters and their families even though he had never met them. Our nation's birthday party will never be the same again.

Memories abound of the "New York relatives" and the fun times we had as kids! My sister and I were always happy to be around such happy, fun loving people. We were closest to Roger and Pam. Isabelle and Bill had the best summer party with all the relatives there! My mother, Mary Anne , loved her family so much. It was a highlight in all our lives when we gave her an 80th birthday party and many of her wonderful family came to celebrate , including her cousin Joe , who she regarded like a brother, and who was so close to her from their childhood. She was so happy to see them all! It was a great day for our family.
I will remember the lovely visit with Roger and Laura in Naples, Fl this past winter. Precious moments. Roger put up a valiant fight with his illness. I am inspired by his will and bravery!
Rest in peace, dear Roger! You are united with your grandparents, Mom and Dad, Uncle Joe, Uncle Frank, and cousin Mary Anne. We will miss you!

Pop,
It's hard to believe it was less than 24 hours ago when I felt you leaving - on your way to heaven. I know you had to go though because we needed and you needed you to be at peace. It's only day 1 of missing you for the rest of my life.
Love you always,
Princess
