We are all saddened by the passing of Mr. Mahoney. He was such a great friend to my Dad, Bob Grogan, and together they did so much for the Boys and Girls State program. Mr. Mahoney was an inspiration to all, to be involved in community service throughout one's life. We are forever thankful for his heartfelt words at my Dad's calling hours during the American Legion service, and now his words, "farewell my Irish buddy", can be "Hello Bob nice to see you again." The Grogan and O'Donnell families

Very sad to hear the news this man was an inspiration to us all , He was a great man always said hello to you at the Fire house always to Friendly, he was a great man and Firefighter a lot of Kids Growing up new this man from Fire Safety only to have their Kids see him when they went to school he will be missed ! To The Mahoney Family Jim was a longtime friend of our family, Served in the Northport Fire Dept. with my Father Pete. Jim was ever present in the Northport Community, whether it was at a Memorial Day Parade, voting at Laurel Ave. School, handing out poppies on Veteran's Day, and in his Fire Dept Uniform when my Father's bench was dedicated in front of the former Northport Ice Co. location. To say Jim was involved in the Northport Community was an understatement. He lived a good life and left a tremendous impression on Northport. RIP Jim, we will miss you greatly.
