robert Del Rosso posted a condolence

Good Morning,
I am very sorry for your loss. I wish I read Newsday because I would NEVER have missed his wake nor funeral.
My name is Bob Del Rosso, and I had the privilege of being mentored and taught the insurance business by Marty. Marty was a whole lot more than a great insurance professional, he was a very intelligent, patient and caring man. I started at the Hartford in Woodbury in 1978 as an OJT(on the job trainee) at 24 yrs of age. I was immediately assigned to Marty who used to refer to me AFFECTIONATELY as the "snot nosed college kid". He was a professor of insurance, one you could rely upon for answers ONLY after he forced you to research the question till exhaustion before asking Marty. I still read & research a topic today before asking people smarter than me like Marty. Little did I know then what a profound influence he would have on my career. To a great degree my success in the insurance business today is due to Marty. I remember like yesterday in August of 1981, my beloved dad passed away from cancer. I came into work inconsolable. Marty took me into the parking lot of the Woodbury office and consoled me like a relative would. I will never forget that day. Marty had so many quips and pearls of wisdom that I still use today after 39 yrs of first meeting him. As a matter of fact I used a Martyism just yesterday with an underwriter from the Chubb in NYC, and did he get a kick out of it and I always give credit to Marty. I guess you could say that the more I think of those great few yrs I had with Marty, I loved him.
I will continue to quote him, and pray to him for continued guidance in my life.
I hope he didn't suffer. God rest his soul,
Bob Del Rosso
