Obituary of Raymond P. Kane
Raymond Peter Kane of Northport, NY passed away peacefully in his sleep at home on Monday, June 10, 2013.
Mr. Kane was born in Manhattan and was a veteran of both WWII, where he served as a member of the Merchant Marine, and the Korean War where he served in the Army as a medic.
Mr. Kane later sailed the world aboard both the S.S. United States and the S.S. America leading to a long career in the travel industry. He retired in 2003 after 41 years as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Pisa Brothers Travel Service, Inc., a world-renowned boutique travel firm located in Rockefeller Center.
Mr. Kane appeared in many television and print advertisements for the travel industry, and was a regular on Eyewitness News, the Today Show, and other programs.
Most notably, Mr. Kane was selected to represent the travel industry in its epic battle with the IRS. His testimony in front of the U.S. House of Representatives ultimately led to a victory for the industry.
Mr. Kane was the beloved husband of the late Marilyn Langford Kane. He is survived by his son, Scott C. Kane of Sands Point, NY, and two grandsons, Dylan S. Kane and Christian A. Kane.
The funeral service is Saturday, June 15th at 11 a.m. at Nolan & Taylor-Howe Funeral Home in Northport, with visiting hours on Friday, June 14th from 2 pm to 5 pm and 7 pm to 9 pm.
