Astman, Dorothy Rennie "Tutu" of Northport died peacefully on March 29, 2017 just shy of her 102nd birthday. Multi-talented craftswoman who especially enjoyed creating baskets, quilts, and scrimshaw. Avid writer and world traveler, loving Hawaii most of all! Volunteer for many organizations including 25 years at Nassau County Medical Center and 12 at Northport V.A. Hospital. Beloved wife of the late Dr. Joseph G. Astman, long time professor and founding director of the Hofstra University Cultural Center. Loving mother of Joseph "Jeph" (Emma "Toni"), William "Bill", Dorthe "Toby" Selda. Cherished grandmother of Michele, Christie, Deborah, and Jamie. Dear great-grandmother of nine. A celebration of her life will be held at her church, First Presbyterian Church of Northport, 330 Main Street, Northport, NY 11768 on Tuesday, July 11th at 11 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations to her church, in her memory, appreciated.
