Obituary of Martha J. Michalkewicz

Martha J. Michalkewicz, of East Northport, on April 1, 2017 at 96 years of age. Martha, born Martha Woiczechowski, was pre-deceased by her husband John, her brothers Joe, Bill, Charlie, Stanley and Eddie, and her sisters Frances Hulse, Jean Glass and Mae Tillet. Martha is survived by four daughters, Frances Michalkewicz of Virginia, Ann (Terry) Shirlow of Calverton, Joan Ladd (Jim Hurst) of Virginia and Marti (John White) of Hauppauge. Martha was grandmother to Erin (Adam) Clements, Jennifer (Jerry) Green, Todd Shirlow, Amanda (Alan) Cuthbertson, Kate Shirlow, Morgan (Vipul) Mangal, Jessica (Kevin) Barry and Alex White, as well as ten great-grandchildren. Martha was a volunteer at St. Paul’s Lutheran School by reading to children as “Grandma Martha.” Most recently, Martha was under the loving care of the Missionary Sisters of St. Benedict as a resident at St. Joseph’s Home for the Aged in Huntington. Visiting Tuesday, 2-5 & 7-9 PM at Nolan & Taylor-Howe Funeral Home, 5 Laurel Ave, Northport, NY. Funeral Mass, Wednesday, 10:45 AM at St. Anthony of Padua Church, East Northport. Burial at St. Philip Neri Cemetery, East Northport. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Missionary Sisters of St. Benedict, at St. Joseph Home for the Aged, 350 Cuba Hill Road, Huntington, NY 11743.
