I had the pleasure of working with Ed for 11years. He brought both joy and concern to his classroom and our department meetings. I never observed a class when he was not having fun interacting with his students. I always looked forward to our gourmet end-of-year lunches where his appreciation of good food and wine always brought a smile. Ed was a special man who will be missed.

Mr. Murray was my favorite male teacher at Great Hollow! He was a kind , funny man who always went out his way to make someone smile! I have wonderful memories of him and his class. I had him in 7th grade Spanish . when I found out I didn't get him in 8th I made my guidance counselor change my schedule so I could have him in 8th as well. He was a great man! May he rest in peace.

When we were 11 years old living in Parkchester we became best childhood pals. Ed was well known for his pranks and jokes, but most of all he was a sincere friend. I want to remember him the way he was when we saw him in Naples this year. May you rest in peace Ed.
Your Pal,
Bob (Bobby)

Ed was a friend I met in Troop 410 when his son, Kevin joined the Troop. He was so proud when Kevin became an Eagle Scout. Ed was an assistant scoutmaster with the troop and had a terrific sense of humor. He and I took the older scouts one summer on a sailing trip to Lake George. I was depending on him to take one of the sailboats out on the lake. He had failed to inform me before the trip that he didn't know how to sail. But Ed was a quick learner and was sailing his own boat by the end of the trip. Ed was a good man. He will be missed!

Ed was a wonderful man to work with and he was my mentor upon entering the teaching profession. He was a joy to work with I miss him. I was blessed to have a someone mentor me that brought joy to every room he entered. I am sure he would love to see this poem in his memory.
Feel no guilt in laughter, he’d know how much you care.
Feel no sorrow in a smile that he is not here to share.
You cannot grieve forever; he would not want you to.
He’d hope that you could carry on the way you always do.
So, talk about the good times and the way you showed you cared,
The days you spent together, all the happiness you shared.
Let memories surround you, a word someone may say
Will suddenly recapture a time, an hour or a day,
That brings him back as clearly as though he were still here,
And fills you with the feeling that he is always near.
For if you keep those moments, you will never be apart
And he will live forever locked safely within your heart.

Ed's sense of humor was surpassed only by his warmth and kindness. He helped so many fellow teachers get through bad days with his words of wisdom and unending jokes. He loved to decorate the small teacher's room with holiday decor and seasonal food. He added so much to the school day and to the lives of so many people. His students learned through his amusing lessons and always left his classroom smiling. My sincere condolences to the Murray family. Connie Antonetti

Sending hugs, prayers and condolences to all of Ed's family and friends. As a fellow teacher and colleague, Ed always inspired me to bring smiles and laughter to our students at Smithtown Middle School. He will always be remembered with a good heart, smiling and a bag of tricks up his sleeves. Great teacher and man. Forever missed. Rest In Peace.

I already miss my colleague in the Smithtown School district who added a light and a special charm to my teaching days. No one had Ed's wit and whimsy,,warmth and graciousness, not to mention a gourmet's palate and a shared fondness for Chateau Y'Quem. He made his fellow teachers work harder, smile broadly and eat with gusto. He shared many a meal with his colleagues every chance we could get...and always at the school year's end. Here's to you,my dear friend...a toast...
