Obituary of Lucille C. Hehir
Lucille C. Hehir, 93, of East Northport, NY, passed away Feb. 23, 2018. She was born Dec. 1, 1924 in Detroit, MI to the late Ira and Edith Hubbs. She was predeceased by her Northport High school sweetheart and loving husband of 65 years, Edward T. Hehir, retired Detective Sergeant for the Town of Huntington and then Suffolk County Police Dept. Upon graduation from high school she was a devoted employee of The Pilgrim State Hospital and later was a payroll clerk for the Town of Huntington, NY. Later Lucille served as a teacher's aide at Northport Jr. High School from where she retired in 1987. As a young parishioner, she taught Sunday School at United Methodist Church. She enjoyed neighborhood card games and socializing with her neighbors of 40+ years. But her real passion was the joy provided by her grandchildren, Robert Joseph III, Patrick Edward and Amanda Marie. She is survived by daughters Laurie Ann Murphy, Elizabeth Ann Lauschus and her husband Steve and her grandchildren. She was adored by her loving, extended family including John and "Midge" Hehir, Gerry and Rosemary Hehir, Jack and Joan Reid, Carol and Donald Hehir and Mary and Anthony Olivari. Reposing Nolan & Taylor-Howe Funeral Home, 5 Laurel Ave, Northport, Monday 2-5 & 7-9 PM. Funeral services, Tuesday, 11 AM at Union United Methodist Church, East Northport. Interment Commack Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her honor to Union United Methodist Church, 1018 Pulaski Rd., East Northport, NY 11731.
