I am so lucky to have known Peter and taken his many classes on Hilton Head. No matter the subject, he eagerly showed us so much in both favorite and unfamiliar plays, books, and movies.
You, his family, have my vcondolences, but also my thanks for sharing him with OLLI

Dr. Clark was my all time favorite English teacher at Northport High School. I had him for quite a few different classes finishing up with his College Prep class. His sense of humor and love for his job made his classes so much fun and so very informative. Set me up for term paper and thesis writing. He was a major influence in my life. Keeping his family in my thoughts and prayers.

Peter Clark inspired me while in High School, 1973 - 1976. I didn't realize he was the principal of Norwood Ave Elementary, MY elementary school! It's heartwarming to know my beloved elementary school was under his stewardship for so many years.
Thank you and godspeed, Peter Clark.

I've just read the news and am so very sad despite nothing but fond memories of Pete. From the time I student taught and then was employed at Norwood, until his retirement and beyond, about ten years, we shared a special connection. In 25 years plus in education, I've never worked with a principal who fostered my talents more, gave me more room to be inventive, modeled for me meaningful pedagogical reflection, and who didn't just put up with but enjoyed my sense of humor including when I turned in a single-sentence year-end self-evaluation. In my early years of teaching, we shared a journal in which we carried on an ongoing discussion about teaching and students. I've never worked with anyone else willing to commit such time as a mentor .My life was significantly changed for the better when Pete encouraged me to pursue a Fulbright teaching exchange based on his own experience in Scotland. His support led to a year in England and a lifetime of travel to over 21 different countries and an entirely new perspective on what being educated meant. The ripples of that experience continue to expand. He was kind to me, to my family, to children. Peter was a lovely man and a good man. I will miss him.

I am deeply saddened to learn of Dr. Clark’s passing. He had a big impact on my family’s life. All three of my boys loved & respected Dr. Clark. He truly was an amazing man! I wish more people were like him today! Everyone knows how he greeted each child and knew every child’s name, and his passion for Gumby. But he also had such a patient, kind-hearted, compassionate and diplomatic way about him!! My thoughts and prayers go out to Barbara and the entire Clark family. He will continue to be thought of, and talked about often by our family.

From the moment I met Pete, he was my friend, a trusted counselor, a wonderful mentor. My forever memory of Pete will be the times he and I talked literature at our desks in the English office at St. A's. I would ask him questions, and he would typically lean back in his chair, put his hands behind his head, and collect his thoughts. Once the answer crystallized, he shared his wisdom and the conversation took off.
Before both of us knew it, 40 minutes had flown by and neither one of us had done any work or had eaten our lunches. (The days he brought in the infamous pizza crumb we're the best!)
He and Barbara were a beautiful couple, an inspiration to us. They welcomed Cara and me into their home as if we were their own. Pete was and will always be the living definition of "salt of the Earth". His legacy lives on in all the hearts and minds he's touched. He was truly a great man! My love and sympathy to Barbara and the entire Clark family. Love Jeremy, Cara, Charlotte, Gabe, and Lilah

Always a gentleman and a scholar. Thank you for the memories, the laughs ,your ready responses to my "Hey Pete"'s when something trifled with our school days.
My love and gratitude to Babara for being a huge part of life at St.'s for our Dept. then and my enduring respect for Pete and all that he taught me. Phil
