Michael L. Glennon of South Setauket, NY formerly of Northport, NY on July 7, 2018. Beloved husband of Patricia Driscoll Glennon and the late Constance Glennon. Loving father of Michael (Lisette) Glennon, Martha (Paul) Linetzky, Patrick (Michelle) Glennon and the late Mary Glennon. Cherished grandfather of Michael, Matthew, Sean, Megan, Emma & Thomas. Visiting hours 2-4:30 & 7-9 PM on Sunday July 15, 2018. Funeral Mass 10:30 AM on Monday July 16, 2018 at Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Church, Centerport, NY. Interment to follow at the Northport Rural Cemetery. Donations to Good Shephard Hospice, 200 Belle Terre Rd., Port Jefferson, NY 11777, www.chsli.org, in his memory, would be appreciated.

Michael loved life. He loved books and quiet times and he loved people and good times together.
His life canvas is painted with broad diverse brush strokes that reveal a man of many gifts - a scholar, an educator, a Mets fan and a party goer, a civil rights activist and a man of compassion for the poor, a dear friend and above all a devoted father and family man.

There are many highlights in his career in education including teaching English and being English Chairperson at Northport HS, and being a beloved principal at Wheatley HS in Old Westbury. After retirement he pursued post graduate studies at StonyBrook University until his wife Connie became ill and he cared for her. Later Michael would work as a volunteer for Good Shepherd Hospice and for Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Parish in Centerport. Among his many accomplishments he was proud of his work as Northport Library Board Chairperson where he was instrumental in a complete renovation of Northport Library and the building of East Northport Library. He always had a strong  conviction about the role of the library as a community resource.

This wonderful man of  wisdom and good humor was a gift to all of us who knew him. We will miss him.
