Obituary of Lester M. Bellows, Jr.

Lester M. Bellows, Jr. of Huntington on September 13, 2018.  Les was born in Brooklyn, NY, on August 29, 1928, to Lester Sr. and Florence (Skidmore) Bellows.  A few years later, the family moved to Franklin Square.  After graduating from Sewanhaka High, Les enlisted in the US Army and was stationed on Adak Island in the Aleutians.  After the service, he began a 44 year career with the New York Telephone Company, which later became NYNEX, and then Verizon.  On July 2, 1955, he married Marion Ann Meyer, to whom he remained happily married for 59 years until her passing.  While raising two children with Marion and working full time, he graduated from Hofstra University with a Business Administration degree.  After retiring, he and Marion enjoyed traveling to Europe and visiting their grandchildren. Les was known for his kind and compassionate spirit. He was always quick to smile and never missed an opportunity to share his wonderful sense of humor and wit. He will be terribly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Beloved husband of the late Marion. Loving father of Linda (John) Guyer and Richard (Erin) Bellows. Cherished grandfather of Ryan McLaughlin, Kristin (Matthew) Klinefelter, Jaclyn (Arnaud) Vanderbeken and John Guyer IV. Devoted great-grandfather of Madison Klinefelter and Aiden McLaughlin. Dear brother of Donald (Marjorie) Bellows, the late Florence Carrigan, and the late George Bellows. Fond uncle of Donald Bellows and James Bellows.

Visiting Friday 2-5 & 7-9 PM. Funeral Service 10 AM on Saturday, at the funeral home, with Rev. Harry Schenkel officiating. Interment, with U.S. Army Military Honors, to follow at Pinelawn Memorial Park. Donations to the American Cancer Society, 75 Davids Drive, Hauppauge, NY 11788 or the VNS Hospice, 505 Main St., Northport, NY 11768, in his memory, would be appreciated.
