Richard Dormer was my professor at SCCC and taught my Police & Community course, he was such an amazing professor. So informative, knowledgable, and well-versed in his teachings. I can still hear and remember his laughs till this day, so sad to hear of his passing.

Dear Barbara and all of Rich's Family: I was so saddened to hear the news of Rich's passing. Rich (or "Richie" as my parents always called him) was such a good man and a good neighbor. My family remembers when he first moved next door to us and before his children were born. We remember his brother, Frank, and we enjoyed hearing their Irish brogues. Rich always had a smile on his face and was upbeat and encouraging. My husband and I enjoyed talking with him about jogging whenever I was home to visit my folks. My youngest sister and her husband were inspired to join the police force in part because of Rich's example I'm sure. My niece and nephew were involved in soccer programs and again, I'm sure Rich's influence played a part. Rich had the distinction of being the first police officer to pull me over! (A story for another time!) We are comforted in knowing that you have a large and loving family, friends and faith to help you through this trying time. May the happy, loving memories of Rich sustain you amidst the laughter and tears as you share these in the days to come. We send to you all our prayers, our love and our sincerest condolences. Elaine (Benjamin) & Rich Rosner

My sincere condolences to the Dormer family. I think of Richard and Barbara frequently. Working with Barbara was a real adventure. I attended their wedding. Probably the best I ever went to. I am sorry for your loss and hope that you know how special a man he was. I hope Barbara gets to read this. If not I give my deepest sympathy to the Dormer family. Clara Whitton

Sincere condolences to the family of Commissioner Dormer.
April, 1967 - I remember ' Patrolman' Dormer - patrolling East Northport, in the 205 sector car.
His relief point was at the 205 booth @ the Northport train station on Larkfield Road. He truly enjoyed his work.
Rest in Peace, Richard Dormer.
