One of my first memories of Jack was as we sat as freshmen in the cafeteria at NJCU looking at photos of us that had been printed in the school paper, and with his usual self-deprecating humor observed of his own snap, "not bad, even though I do look like an Irish bartender." I loved too how he tracked down and told me of every drama class the two professional theater dudes in our undergraduate college, Gene OSullivan and Jack Bettenbender, would be teaching the following term so I could sign up too! And I remember too after we both trooped down to Washington, DC to Catholic University's Masters program in Speech and Drama program, how jealous of him I was that he had had the guts to audition for, and score a role, in a production of GOOD MORNING, MISS DOVE starring the inestimable Helen Hayes.
