Obituary of Frank M. Letkovsky

At a young age, Frank set out on his own, leaving his native home of Velky Saris, Czechoslovakia. With only his determination and his courage, he migrated through Europe during the waning years of the Second World War. He sought a better life for himself. He found himself in France where he began his studies in the fine craft of tailoring at Madame Etoile's in Paris. Through his perseverance and his circle of friends which included one of De Gaulle's clerks, Frank secured a passport and migrated to the United States. He continued his tailoring apprenticeships and ultimately enlisted, as a civilian, in the United States Army as a tailor. Frank was dispatched to the American army base in the city of Heidelberg, Germany. There, he met his wife, Luise Maria ("Izzy") there. He married and returned to the United States to begin a family. Frank worked as a tailor at Saks Fifth Avenue in Manhattan for 12 years before starting his own business. His tailor shop, "Frank's Custom Tailoring", was a fixture in downtown Huntington, NY for over 35 years. Frank was 94 years of age at his passing on September 25, 2013. He was a loving husband to the late Luise M. Letkovsky. He was a devoted father to Andreas (Andy) Letkovsky and to his daughter-in-law Ximena. He was a devoted father to James J. Letkovsky and a beloved grandfather to James J. Letkovsky II. Reposing will be at the Nolan & Taylor-Howe Funeral Home, 5 Laurel Avenue, Northport, Monday 7-9 PM. Funeral Mass Tuesday 10 AM at St. Philip Neri Church, Northport. Interment will then be at Northport Rural Cemetery.
