Joan my deepest condolences for your loss. Gene was great colleague and mentor. His knowledge of history ,finance,
and his great sense of humor made me look forward to go to work. I had some good times playing golf with him or enjoyed his BBQ. He had a great personality and was really good person and I will miss him a lot. God bless him and may he rest in peace

I am very sorry for this great loss. I have worked with Gene for many years and enjoyed his company at work and his BBQs. I have enjoyed listening to his humor and positive mind set with a few casual intelligently worded jokes that made me laugh profusely. I remember his jokes with that French accent, “My name, is Martin’, Gene Martin’” The funny French accent was so well put that it just made me laugh and laugh again. I have met many people and there are a very few people like Gene who can inspire, tell it like it is and keep it straight. The honesty and straight up kind of guy is extremely admirable in a person. I am truly sorry for this loss, I have lost a friend, mentor and a colleague. I will miss him, the world will miss him, dearly. Joan, I am also very sorry to you and my prayers are with you. God Bless, may Gene rest in peace.

Joan, I am so sorry for your loss! I had met you once through the years and both you and Gene fed me lobster one night at the house in Northport. I was just thinking of the insurance class he taught back in the day at Nassau Community which me and a friend Tracy were in together. The class gave you a birthday party and I was the one that purchased the flamingo tie. He had told me he walked into a bank and the person who he was meeting with had the same tie; Gene stopped and before he said anything business like, 'was that a gift?'. He was such a good person. My heart breaks for you!!

I am sorry hear of Genes passing. The last time I saw was at what I know as Wayfarer's in Northport before our 40th High school reunion. He made me laugh reminiscing about our 1973 trip to Florida with a few of the guys. A great and funny storyteller!!

My deepest condolences to Joan at this time of great sorrow. I had the pleasure of working side by side with Gene at NatWest in the 90’s and again at Signature for five years beginning in 2013. Gene was an outstanding individual with a quick wit and a huge heart. I will miss him dearly.
