Dear Alice, Bruce , Patty and Joe, I have so many fond memories of a gentle giant named Bruce. His devotion to the fire service was as huge as his smile. He always had a happy greeting whenever he saw me or my family members. He was at all of the social events and he loved to dance with Alice He comforted many a patient when he answered rescue calls. Bruce was always so kind to my Mom when he met her at mass. We would often wind up at the same restaurant for dinner after five o'clock Mass. Usually at I-hop, I hope that you are having a good time with your fellow fire dept. brothers who have saved a special stool for you in Heaven's firefighters room. I know Paul and your others brothers are all toasting to you on your arrival. I am happy to have known you and I will remember you as a happy friend. Maureen Stevenson

A larger than life good and happy man. When I first started working for the fire department in 1989, I could always count on a phone call after an alarm or even hearing him key up on the mic and quickly say "Nice job John" or "Good morning John". I looked forward to seeing him at fire department functions because he was a guarantee for a great big smile, an even bigger hello and then a few minutes of great conversation. Thanks for being you Bruce. It was an honour knowing you. Rest In Peace. - John McKenna (290-NFD).

Brian Washburn posted a condolence

I met Bruce when I joined the Centerport Fire Department in June of 1980. He was Captain of the Rescue Squad and he was always willing to teach us young kids how to care for our patients. He was there to answer my questions as I went through my EMT and Advanced EMT courses. A very caring and dedicated individual who we will always remember.
To Alice and family, our condolences.
Sincerely,
Brian Washburn and family.

On behalf of myself and my family, it was both a pleasure to have known and worked with Bruce for over 10 years. A true dedicated and loyal coworker with a very joyful personality. His stature and distinctive tone of voice made an impact on those he encountered. A true “gentle giant”. My friend I wish you God’s speed to eternal life and hope you have found peace. My thoughts and prayers to Alice, Bruce, and Patty. Gary and Gina Galante and family
