Susan Lee Beyer was born to Lena (Scudder) Beyer and Frederick E. Beyer on May 29, 1949 and passed on October 1, 2020. She was predeceased by both parents, and her sister, Jane B. Mincher. Susan graduated from Northport High School and received her Bachelor's Degree Magna Cum Laude in Studio Art from Allegheny College in Meadville, PA. Susan received a Master's Degree from CW Post College and did post graduate work at SUNY Stony Brook. She went on to complete post graduate courses on Prehistoric Britain at Oxford University, England. Her study of prehistoric history became a lifelong interest that inspired numerous travels throughout Europe and Central America. Susan's unique interest in all things spiritual led her to travel, investigate and question any number of religions and cultures. She taught Elementary Art at Bellerose Avenue School from 1971 to 2004 to the delight of generations of students. Many will recall her tireless efforts helping with stage design for Bellerose theatre performances and at the Northport Art & Music Festival each June. At home, her loves included gardening, painting and writing. She was the keeper of family history and worked extensively on her memoirs which started when she joined a Tap Root writing workshop, which she enjoyed for many years. Susan is survived by two younger sisters, Anne B Juncadella (Enrique) and Beth Beyer, along with a niece and several nephews. Memorial donations in her memory can be made to the Arthritis Foundation Long Island Chapter (www.arthritis.org) or the charity of your choice. Visiting October 31: 1-4:30pm with services at 4:30pm at the funeral home with limited attendance. Due to the pandemic there will be no reception following the funeral home.
