Obituary of Elizabeth "Betsy" McGrail
Elizabeth McGrail "Betsy" of Northport on March 8, 2021, 82 years of age. Born on July 24, 1938 in Brooklyn, NY. Beloved wife of the late Herbert. Loving mother of Cheryl Rizzuto (Gus), Herb McGrail, II (Mary), Susan Rocks, and Jeff Matias (Barbara). Cherished grandmother of Andrew (Kaitlin), Rachel, Andy (Angela), Alex (Joyce), Allison, John, Kylie, Sage and Brooke. Adored great grandmother of Aiden, Beckham & Thomas. Betsy was a force of nature, selfless, stoic and the rock of the family. Truth be told there could be no other perfect partner our dad could have picked. She was his equal in every way. They were married for 59 years and together they both served the Northport community and the Kids and Adults in Suffolk County with understanding, compassion and relentless conviction. Her contributions to the community include Northport Public Library trustee, PTA president, member of Huntington Quilt Guild, Smithtown Stitchers, and as a Nurse. Betsy was an active member of Trinity Episcopal Church of Northport, where her ashes along with her husband's ashes will be placed in the columbarium After a memorial service at a later date. At this time all services are private due to family concerns during the pandemic.
