Obituary of Denise F. DeJong

DeJong - Denise F. of Northport on March 15, 2021. Beloved wife of the late Frederick. Loving mother of Christine, Michele (Steve) Reilly, Laurie, Monica, Mark (Carrie) and Donald Thorbourne. Cherished grandmother of Kayla, James, Jack, Matthew, Joie, J.P., Kate, Kelly, Quinn and Ryann. Dear sister of Dorothy Sheridan. Also survived by many beloved nieces and nephews. Visiting Thursday 2-5 & 7-9 PM at the Nolan Funeral Home, 5 Laurel Avenue, Northport. Funeral Mass 10:15 AM on Friday at St. Philip Neri Church, Northport. Interment Calverton National Cemetery. Donations to V.N.S. Hospice of Suffolk, 505 Main Street, Northport, NY 11768, in her memory, appreciated.

Born and raised in Katonah New York with her loving sister Dottie. Went to Dunbarton in Washington DC for her undergraduate studies and Fairfield University in Connecticut for her Masters. Moved to Northport and met her Husband, Fred DeJong while teaching in the Northport School District. Extraordinary Mother of 6 children and Grandmother of 10. Denise was an accomplished Real Estate Agent for over 30 years in the local Northport area and had a passion for helping people buy and sell their homes. Denise was also known for her generosity, love and gracious offers to lend a hand or ear to anyone who needed it. She had the unique gift of making everyone feel special and always made time for anyone and everyone who needed a lift. Denise loved to spend her spare time at the beach with her family and was an avid reader. Denise took great pride in her Children and Grandchildren who will all carry on her legacy.
