On behalf of the entire Temple Beth Am (of Miami-Dade County) community, we mourn the untimely and heartbreaking death of our friend, artistic guide and respected architect Christine Schlendorf.
For several years our community has had the privilege of working with Christine on the concept, design and construction of a new pre K thru 5th grade school. The journey with Christine has been a joy, as she was always open to the input (a lot), the suggestions (always many), the commentary (constant) and the give and take (always vigorous) as she guided our 1500 families and staff toward the realization of a new 550 student school. Christine always treated our congregation courteously, graciously and intelligently throughout the "design by committee" process. Christine never became impatient; never uttered a sharp word or response, and made the entire process a cooperation of partners and an inspiring experience. Her expertise, broad knowledge, insight, sensitivity to children and their parents and to teachers and their needs, was of incredible value to the success of the project and the beauty of the new school, which will be completed this summer.
We send our deepest condolences to Christine's family and friends on this terrible loss.

I worked in NYC from 2010-2013 & Christine was one of our architects. Spent the 4th of July w/ her, her mom, members of my family & others on the roof of the Avenues World School watching fireworks drinking wine & having GREAT conversations about Life. Enjoyed several Yankee games w Christine (thank you to her Mom for forfeiting her ticket so I could attend). We ate Lubels sandwich's & drank lemonade while we cheered on our fav team. Exchanged numerous high fives & fist bumps. Christine was a awesome person who will be missed by all of us who knew her.

Oh Chrissy, I am so sorry to learn of your passing. As your next door neighbor, and the "baby" of the block, I recall your kindness when the big kids were playing ball. You'd always find a way to include me in some way shape or form. I remember lots of competitive basketball games in your driveway, and your epic Easter Egg hunts which I could hear from my bedroom window. I recall you being a superstar athlete way back when, but as I think about it now, you were simply a superstar in every way.
I hope you are able to find some peace and rest now. Your memory will live on forever.
My condolences to Karen and Dave. You are in my thoughts.
Lovingly,
David A. Gerkin (from the Marshall Lane crew)

I have so many wonderful memories of Christine and have been blessed to call her mentor, boss, friend and person that we should all aspire to be for 7+ years. A big personality and even bigger heart, a champion for many and someone who really CARED. She was Joy and a joy to be around, she exemplified living ones best life while improving the lives of countless people, she was kind, she was generous, she was fun and she kept pushing forward no matter the obstacle.
My condolences to her family and friends for their great loss. Christine and all of you are in my thoughts and prayers and know that she touched and inspired so many of us in so many ways and will continue to do so. I will miss her dearly and look forward to celebrating her life with others who loved her (later this year) and finding ways to continue celebrating her life and legacy by striving to continue to do the good works and service that she dedicated her life to.
May she Rest in Peace

I am saddened by the passing of Chris, and remember when I first heard that she was fighting the disease. I wish to give thanks for her ever present passion for others, and spirit of inclusiveness. Her smile will always be with me, and I hope her family cherishes the memories she left for you and, I want you to know, that she has left incredible memories for me as a part of PE. Give thanks for her memory, and as Chris would say...CUSE forever...
