As Cathleen's first cousin, I fondly remember playing with her in our grandparent's bungalow on Beach 42nd Street in Arverne on the Rockaway Peninsula of Queens in the late 60's and early 70's. Today any trace of that bungalow, and the community to which it belonged, have long been obliterated. With the loss of the bungalow our families drifted apart, with Cathleen's family living with our grandparents in Northport, while mine remained in Rockaway. I've often wondered how people so closely related by blood could grow so estranged...although we were not very close in her later years, I cherish the memories I have of Cathleen from the past, and am sorry I did not get to know her better in the present. I’m heartbroken after losing one of my oldest friends. We shared a lifetime of memories, sharing secrets,,laughter and tears over 4 decades. I’m so grateful to have spent the day with you just a few weeks ago on my trip home and that you were able to meet Pete. Your friendship has always been special to me. I’ll miss you forever. Rest easy my friend.
