Obituary of Mary F. Zarcone
March 12, 1950 - August 16, 2021
Mary Zarcone passed away peacefully on August 16, 2021 at the VNS Hospice House in East Northport, New York. The family asks that in lieu of flowers donations may be made to VNS Hospice Of Suffolk, "Hospice House", 505 Main Street, Northport, NY 11768 (visitingnurseservice.org/).
Mary leaves her beloved husband John of 42 years, her two younger brothers John and Michael Haug, both of whom are learning disabled. Mary acted as their guardian and managed their health and finances, and made sure they got to enjoy life and travel extensively.
Mary also leaves behind four nephews Peter Zarcone, Paul Zarcone, Sean and Donald O'Reilly and her favorite and only niece Jennifer Baranaskas.
Her beloved brothers in law Peter and Salvatore Zarcone and sister in law Susan Zarcone whom she loved as a true sister.
Mary was a young, energetic lover of life who enjoyed working, traveling, sailing and interacting with family and numerous friends. She was a very private person and most associates were unaware she was battling cancer. Mary continued to work and enjoy her life while dealing with three lung cancer surgeries over 11 years. Never complained but always enjoying life and ready for the next adventure. Her captivating smile showed you she was always open and eager to help others achieve their goals, whether business or personal. She was an excellent listener and helped people find their own solutions to problems by asking questions.
Mary had a wonderful exciting career with GEICO she joined the company as a sales and service representative in 1972 and after numerous advances was promoted in 2010 to regional vice president for the company's Southeast operation in Macon Ga. She retired in 2013, to enjoy the rewards of her accomplishments and return home to Long Island to be with family and friends.
She loved her great niece and nephews, but remained closest to Christopher and Robby Baranaskas, both having a special place in her heart. Robby and Mary having a very special love and connection.
Visitation will be held at Nolan Funeral Home, 5 Laurel Avenue, Northport, NY 11768 on Friday, August 20, 2021 from 2-5 & 7-9 PM. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Church, Centerport, NY on Satuday, August 21, 2021 at 10 AM. Interment to follow at Northport Rural Cemetery.
