Obituary of David H. Penrose

AT THE REQUEST OF THE FAMILY PLEASE WEAR A MASK UPON ENTRY TO THE FUNERAL HOME.

David Penrose on October 26, 2021, in his 86th year, of Coram. Beloved husband of Mary Jane Penrose, happily married for 60 years. Loving father of John Penrose (Julie) and Dina Allan (Mark). Proud grandfather of Sean, Ryan, Kevin, Mark Jr., Sarah and Nichole.Dave served in the army as an Airplane Mechanic, stationed in Thule, Greenland. In his professional life, Dave worked at Grumman Aerospace for 38 years as a Structural Test Engineer (Technical Specialist), on all of their air and spacecraft, including the E-2, EA-6B, F-14, X-29, as well as the Lunar Excursion Module (LEM). Dave's signature is on a plaque on the Moon, along with the others that contributed to this great achievement. Dave enjoyed a life of golf, fishing, skiing, and go carts with his grand kids. Dave helped all of his grandkids practice swimming, driving and parallel parking. Dave built his own 2nd story deck, did his own work on his cars, and could fix practically anything. He passed on this knowledge to his children and grandchildren. Dave and Mary Jane never missed their grandchildren's games, swim meets, or other important life events. Reposing Nolan Funeral Home, 5 Laurel Avenue, Northport, Thursday 2-4 & 6-8 PM. Funeral Mass at Infant Jesus Roman Catholic Church, Port Jefferson, Friday 10 AM. Interment to follow with U.S. Army Military Honors, at Calverton National Cemetery. In leu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Lustgarten Foundation for Pancreatic Cancer Research, lustgarten.org.
