So many memories of a friendship that stretches back to the mid 70"s. In the mid 80's Mike and I both worked at MLU Furniture in Haupauge. Where I saw first hand how talented and creative Mike was. More recently, Mike helped me remodel a room in my home where he made the most beautiful crown moulding. He was a great teacher and I learned so many finished carpentry skills from him that I still use today. He was also a loyal friend. 3 years ago, I was having a really tough time after losing both of my twin brothers, Mike would call and stop by my house frequently to make sure that I was ok. I will miss his daily calls and friendship. Rest in Peace Pal of mine.

I’ve known Mike since we were seniors in high school. For over 45 years (can’t believe I just said that…) we have been good friends and it hurts to think that he is gone. Gone but he will definitely not be forgotten. I learned so much from him. Over the years he was always there to lend a hand in any type of project and he always wanted to make sure it was done the right way. He was a good teacher and perfectionist who loved to create, build and fix. His hand crafted baskets are very much a part of my home. More importantly, Mike was a guy that would do anything for a friend or even a stranger. My heart hurts that I won’t have those daily phone calls with my friend just to see how things were going. He was a good friend and in life, you don’t get to have many of those. Rest in peace my friend and say hi to your Mom and my Dad for me….

There are quite a few people, including myself, who considered Michael their best friend. That in itself says a lot about his character. Mike was one of the most selfless and giving persons I know. He was always willing to help others, and ask for nothing in return. I have baskets and knickknacks that he had made for me, and will treasure for a lifetime. He was a perfectionist and it showed in his craftsmanship and everything he did. He could have been very successful selling his wares, but got so much more satisfaction by giving them to the people he loved. That is the kind of person he was. I have too many wonderful memories to elaborate on each, but I cherish them all and will miss him very very much.

My cousin, Michael gifted me several wonderful baskets that he had made over the years. His baskets were beautiful and expertly crafted. I will always cherish them. He was so kind to share his handwork with me. Michael also gave my mother, Beatrice Link
his hand made baskets that she really enjoyed.
I will miss him and his phone calls that kept me posted on the doings of Hosie family. Rest in peace dear Michael. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

My family moved to Northport when I was 16 years old. Within the first week Michael knocked on my front door to introduce himself as a neighbor and could he show me around town. During highschool Mike took me everywhere with him. We rode our bikes after school as he delivered newspapers, in the winter he drove and I threw the paper from the car window. Mike dragged me along on fishing trips with his friends Kimball,Walter and Phil. We had a deal that if I could bait my hook without fussing, he would unhook my catch. He also taught me how to waterski. Mike came up to visit me at college in Fredonia, and also visited me Rochester for a week. Even though he hated leaving Northport he was the first guest at my door when I hosted my first Friendsgiving in Brooklyn. He cheered me on at the first play I co-produced in Manhattan. As a talented furniture refinisher and basket weaver, he always gifted me and my family with his crafts. Michael was "always there" in those days and was always my biggest supporter.
Michael, I will never forget you and I will be forever grateful .
