Obituary of Christina V. Mahon
Christina V. Mahon departed her loving family in her 95th year on Wednesday, July 13, 2022, under the excellent care of the Missionary Sisters of St. Benedict. Christina was born in Brooklyn, NY on October 21, 1926. She was the last surviving child of Christine and Thomas Burke. She was a sister to Catherine, John (Florence), Joseph (Peggy), Helen, Edward (Joan) and Thomas (aka Junie), all whom predeceased her.
Christina was mother to Christine, wife of Charles Schmidt (previously deceased) and John, husband to Cinthia. She raised her children with love and devotion in Brooklyn, NY with her husband, John H. Mahon (previously deceased).
As a physical therapy aide at the Holy Family Home in Brooklyn, NY, Christina was known for her loving and caring nature when taking care of the elderly. Her hobbies included writing poetry and short stories and doing both Sudoko and word search puzzles. She was most proud of her family and her Irish heritage.
She is survived by her children and grandchildren, Gregory C. Schmidt and Brianna V. Mahon. There are also many nieces and nephews, all grown with children.
Visitation will be held at Nolan Funeral Home, 5 Laurel Avenue, Northport, NY on Monday, July 18th from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Funeral mass to be held on Tuesday, July 19th at 11 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua R.C. Church in East Northport. Interment to follow at St. Philip Neri Cemetery, East Northport. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Missionary Sisters of St. Benedict, 350 Cuba Hill Road, Huntington, NY. 11743.
