Obituary of John H. Schumacher, Jr.

John H. Schumacher Jr., a longtime resident of Greenlawn, NY passed away on October 18, 2022. He was 94 years old. He was predeceased by his wife Joyce to whom he was married for 65 years. Beloved father of Carol Hanson and her husband Gordon and John Schumacher and his wife Michelle. Adoring grandfather to, Victoria and Elizabeth Hanson, Christian Schumacher, and his wife McKenzie and Jessica McDonough and her husband Conor. Loving great grandfather of Maisie McDonough.

John was born in Flushing, New York and grew up on one of the last truck farms on Long Island. He went on to proudly serve in the US Army during WWII and was stationed in Italy.

John worked as an accountant at Hazeltine Corporation for 13 years before changing careers and teaching in the Commack School District. During this time, he used innovative ideas to make learning fun and created projects in which he shared his love of country.
