There are many words that come to mind when I think of Barbara Jean Douglas. Strength, determination, courage and bravery. Barbara and I share birthdays ( one day apart) and being Christmas babies has always pulled our bond together. From the time I remember she was always determined to do good things and destined to be the leader in the pack. There are so many memories that I will never forget. The summers we spent together, the sleep overs at your house, they very cool playhouse you had in your back yard and the beautiful dolls that surrounded your room. We worked together at summer camps, and spent our college years in Western NY ( I went to Ithaca and she went to Syracuse). I can remember the time I drove us home from Syracuse and my windshield wipers broke in the rain and we had to stop at a truck stop to get help ( now that was a Laverne and Shirley moment). Through any challenge Barbara faced she always smiled and that smile will never be forgotten. Barbara knew what it meant to be strong, and when it came to fighting this battle, the Warrior came out in her. To say she was brave is an understatement, she never the let the fear of the unknown get to her and this is what I will remember most about Barbara. Not only was she was a terrific daughter, sister, she was an amazing wife, and mother and her beautiful memories will help us get through his very difficult time. Rest in Peace BJD we love you.

Barbarajean, I wrote and rewrote then tried to write again. There are literally no words that can help ease this pain we all feel. When I stop and reflect on these past 10 years I think it is unbelievably important for you to know how proud we all are of you. You are TRULY the STRONGEST WARRIOR I may ever meet in my lifetime, and through it all you always carried yourself with such Grace. Barb, we will never be apart. Your beautiful spirit and strength is something we will keep alive within each of us. You may now rest, no struggles and no more pain. You have the best seat in the house to help your family the way you always have. I am a better person because of all that you have taught me through the years. I am so lucky to have you as my big sister. I can never say goodbye because you know I will start each day with our morning talks, and I will end each day with the prayers we shared for healing and hope for everyone we know. I Love you Barbara and I will do whatever it takes to make sure your boys don’t skip a beat. You always taught them to believe in themselves and to always do their best! We will all try to live our lives the way you have shown us to do, and we will do so with honor and grace. This is the way you have always lived, and we will do the same.
