Obituary of Madeleine V. Kubic

It is with profound sadness that we share that Madeleine "Lynn" Veva Kubic (nee North), 71 of Northport, New York, was called to Heaven to be with God and her beloved Ruby. Born in the Philippines, she was the daughter of the late Colonel Grenville Paul North and Madeleine Emma North (nee Kenny) and raised predominantly in Hicksville, NY.

Lynn married Dr. Thomas A. Kubic, professor of forensic science at John Jay College and retired Detective of the Nassau County Police Department. They were happily married for over 38 years. They raised four daughters and loved to travel together. They traveled around the globe, but she was most well known for her annual trips to the Virgin Islands and recently, Key West, Florida.

She is survived by her husband, Thom, her four joy-of-her-life daughters, Madeleine Jean Kubic of Northport, Alexandria Capozzoli and her husband Michael of Huntington, Georganne Kubic of San Diego, and Anastasia Buchanan and her husband John of Kings Park, and her grandchildren: Pasquale, Giovanni, and Graziella Capozzoli and John Daniel Buchanan, as well as her sister Laura Tolson. Lynn's sister Elena Barash and brother Grenville North predeceased her.

Lynn was a dog lover who enjoyed traveling with her family and spending time with friends and family in Northport Village. Lynn enjoyed her many years as a "career bartender". More recently referred to as "Lynnie" and "Grandma Lynn", she focused her energy on her children, grandchildren and many local families for which she babysat.

Lynn will be remembered for her infectious laugh, larger-than-life personality, positive attitude, big smile, and generous and helping nature. Lynn lived by the philosophy that if life gives you lemons, you make a Smirnoff Vodka "Martini".

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to St. Jude's Children's Hospital (www.stjude.org) or The American Heart Association (www.heart.org). Kindly make the donations in the memory of : Lynn Kubic

Visiting will be 2-5 & 7-9 PM on Monday February 27th and on Tuesday February 28th. Funeral will be at 10:30 AM on Wednesday March 1st at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 120 Vernon Valley Road, East Northport, NY 11731. Interment to follow at Pinelawn Memorial Park, Farmingdale.
