Obituary of Peggy Williams

Peggy Williams, 73, of Huntington, NY passed away surrounded by family and loved ones on April 8, 2023.  She was a beloved mother of Christine (Chris) Mulholland and Mary Williams, cherished grandmother/Momo of Lucy and Delaney Mulholland, dear sister of Mary (Mike) Hermida, the late Eddie (Laure) Kaminski, Bill (Jeanne) Kaminski, and Bob (Denise) Kaminski, and survived by many loving nieces, nephews, godchildren and friends.  Peggy was preceded in death by her husband Edward Williams, and parents Edward and Eleanor Kaminski.

Peggy was born on November 27, 1949 in Brooklyn, New York.  She attended Our Lady of Mercy Academy in Syosset and graduated from Mount Saint Vincent College in the Bronx.  She went on to become one of Our Lady of Mercy’s most beloved teachers and coaches.  She married Eddie on August 12, 1972.  Peggy and Eddie lived in Huntington Station before settling in Lloyd Harbor.  Eddie passed away in 1990, and Peggy’s strength carried her through and she became the most amazing mother and father to Christine and Mary.

Peggy was most known for her kindness; regardless of who you were or where you came from, Peggy treated everyone according to the golden rule. Peggy also loved to laugh. She was routinely seen at the Lloyd Neck Bath Club enjoying a game of tennis, Mah Jongg or a great glass of wine while laughing with friends watching the sunset. Peggy made all those around her strive to be better people. She was always the person who checked in on those who were having difficulties and regularly donated to her favorite charities.

Peggy was the greatest mom and Momo.  She gave her daughters and granddaughters everything, including her wisdom and strength.  They enjoyed skiing in Vermont and the beaches of Fire Island and Barefoot Beach in Florida together.  Finally, we are convinced that the Mets will win the World Series and the Jets will win the Super Bowl this year in Peggy’s honor (stay tuned).  As both of these teams biggest fan, she will most definitely be cheering them on from above.

In her honor, a funeral mass will be held on April 13, 2023 at 10:30 am at Our Lady Queen of Martyrs in Centerport, NY followed by a burial at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Huntington.  A celebration of her life will follow at the Huntington Crescent Club.  Mourners are asked to please wear colors of the light that Peggy gave to the world.  In lieu of flowers, please send donation to The INN (www.the-inn.org)
