As a parenr of Nest+m student, I’ve dealt with Mr. Farrell as far as when he was Acting Principal of the lower school. My son was not doing well and Mr. Farrell was the only person at NEST+m to give me a reason to keep my child at NEST+m. He was the most kind and positive person at the school. I am forever greatful for encouragement, for reason and kindness. It is believed that God only takes the best. My deepest condolences. Rest in Peace.

I've known Greg since we were in college together in Colorado. Greg was such a kind, sweet, silly person and it brought me great joy to call him my friend. We had lots of great travels and adventures together, and I feel very lucky that we shared so many good memories. It makes me happy to hear how much he was loved in his community. Rest easy, old friend. We love you and miss you

My deepest condolences to the Farrell family. Greg was my son, Nathaniel, English tutor for the past year. He was very generous with his time and was always very patient with him. He truly got Nathaniel interested in reading non-fiction and instilled a new found love with the genre. I always enjoy our little talks on the Sunnyside street corners and my kids always enjoy seeing the family together walking Coco. Our hearts broke when we heard of Greg's diagnosis, he was a fighter and gave it everything he had. He will always be remembered. Sending warm hugs to the family near and far. – Michelle, Charles, Nathaniel, and Halina Nix

AP Farrell could not help but show his pride in NEST+m. In his students, their work, and their character. Who can think of Epoch without thinking of Greg? I could see it as a parent, but I could only get the fullness of Greg’s work and dedication after I started working with him. His calmness, kindness and guidance were a big part of NEST+m. We will miss him always. Sending my love to his three women with the hope that they can find comfort in seeing Greg’s impact on all he knew.

As cousins we only got to see each other at special occasions. The last time I saw Greg was at my Aunt Ellen’s 80th birthday party about 2 years ago. The highlight of the party for me was having a long conversation with Greg as we happened to sit near each other. Afterward I felt so happy that I got to catch up with him after so long. He was always so adventurous, doing such interesting things and travels, and having dreadlocks was so cool. But Greg was also a gentle soul and it is heartbreaking that he had such a long hard fight at the end and has gone so young- our youngest cousin. My prayers for Vilma and her daughters, my Uncle Billy and Aunt Janis and Stacy. He touched so many others through his life’s adventures and his work. He will be missed and remembered so fondly by so many.

Sending love and sympathy to Vilma, Louisa and Sofia across the Atlantic from Ireland. We were lucky to know the Farrell-Silveira family when living in Sunnyside until a few years ago, and would often bump into each other at PS150, or Sunnyside Park. Any encounter with Greg would put you in good form, and I always valued his opinions on Education. I also remember him talking about trips to Ireland - lighting a candle for you here in Ireland now Greg. Thinking of you all in New York, and wishing you strength to deal with this immense loss. Although I haven’t spoken to Greg for close to 20 years, I was lucky enough to count him as a close friend when we were students together at CU Boulder. We shared so many adventures together with our group of friends, visiting sites across the southwest and west coast, and later traveling to Thailand, and India. Greg was always game for a road trip, hike in the mountains, day of snowboarding, Italian dinner, or you name it. He was known for his friendly and positive vibes, and easy going attitude, and his interests in the outdoors, poetry, hand drumming and music. Greg was loved by many and even though we may not have seen him recently, his loss is felt deeply by his old friends from Boulder. I send my deepest condolences to his parents, sister, wife and children.

Greg, you were such an amazing mentor and friend. We shared so many interests from our passion for education, food, and cycling.
I will never forget this day during the pandemic. We had decided to meet up and go for a bike ride together. You lead the pack the whole way and biked so fast that were all left in the dust. You did it so easily, listening to music while leaving us behind in the dust. Honestly it was one of the best rides I did in a long time and it was a pleasure to share this moment with you. Every time I ride by the Little Red Light House I will leave a stone there for you to as a tribute to you being an amazing human being in my life.
I will never forget you. I truly hope you knew the impact you had on my life. Thank you Greg!

Greg you were a welcoming presence at Nest, and especially upon our return after Covid/going remote, you offered continuity. We were in the courtyard (Masked) and you were going over safety procedures. We were all spread out (6 feet apart), and It's silly but I didn't think I could be recognized wearing a mask. But, you recognized me by name. Even with a mask on you knew who I was. Just a small moment, but significant for me. We never know how our interactions touch others, and the impact they have. Organized and calm during testing, a fierce advocate for students, and a respected educator. Gone too soon.

Greg was one of the first people I met at Nest, because I started in 2020 in the midst of remote learning, as we prepared for students to return. He gave us our pandemic supplies and led us through the school grounds, explaining lockdown and safety procedures. At a time of uncertainty, he was a beacon. Greg was an exemplary leader, and he made me feel like a welcome new member of what I would find is an impressive team. I wish we had more time with him, as he made a massive impact even on those who got very little. He will be missed.

Ever since then, we have shared a million memories together, birthdays, barbecues, ski trips, graduations, broadway shows, the list goes on and on. He was always the kindest, most generous man.
