She was my Mother, my teacher, my best friend she was the Matriarch of the family. She was determined to create a better life for her and her family as she had already made the sacrifice of leaving her country to come to America. She was the trailblazer that continued to move the family forward to better jobs, better neighborhood, better schools. Insisted as girls we had to have an education we were the first generation Americans, me and my sister and the first generation from theirs to go to college. She took care of everyone and always gave insight to other people when they asked for advice. She was always frank and forthcoming on her feelings and never held anything back. She worked full time, and brought her Mother in from Italy when she was pregnant with me to help her raise me, she made endless sacrifices she was everything and everywhere all at once. We’ll miss you terribly but find comfort in knowing you’re reunited with Daddy now and can finally be together again forever.
