He was a College Professor and Band Director at NYU in Manhattan. Loving husband of Elaine (nee Lamberton) Gates. Beloved father of Patricia Falber; her husband Harry, Michelle Marino; her husband Ralph, Heather Bifulco; her husband Clem, Nancy Shackleton; her husband Jack, Stephen Gates; his wife Marsha, the late Douglas Gates, and Julianne Puig; her husband Ernie. Cherished grandfather of Samantha Belkin, Aaron Falber, Amanda Palmieri; her husband Angelo, Megan Marino, Bryan Bifulco, Christopher Bifulco, Sam Shackleton, Katie Shackleton, Ryan Gates, Justin Gates, Todd Gates, Jennifer Puig, E.J. Puig, and Jessica Puig. Visiting will be held Monday 2-5 & 7-9 PM. The service will be Tuesday at the funeral home at 11 AM with Rev. Mark Bigelow officiating. A private cremation will follow.
