Obituary of Anna M. Schonig

Anna M. Schonig, 88, passed away in Huntington, New York on August 17, 2023. Anna was born in Biblis, Germany and emigrated to Queens, New York in 1957. Having trained as a nurse in Germany, she embarked on what would become a nursing career in the New York City hospital system. Retiring first to Southampton, NY and then Fort Pierce, FL. Anna enjoyed life's quiet pleasures: sunshine, the ocean, Pavarotti, crossword puzzles, and spoiling those she loved with her cooking and baking. Anna is preceded in death by her husband, Adolf; son, Michael; and four brothers. She is survived by her grandchildren, Michael (Nicole), Elizabeth and Thomas; great-granddaughter, Emilia; sister, Elisabeth; and nieces in the US and Germany. Anna will be greatly missed by all who knew her for her gentle and kind-hearted spirit. Visitation Friday 8:45am to 9:45am at Nolan Funeral Home 5 Laurel Avenue, Northport, NY. www.nolanfh.com . A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday 10:30am at Our Lady Queen of Martyr's RC Church in Centerport, NY. Cremation will be private.
