Obituary of Frank O. Dusek

Frank O. Dusek left his earthly life at age 100 on Aug. 29,2023 at the house he built in Fort Salonga with his wife Florita and son F. Michael. Clearing the trees, laying cement, installing plumbing and electricity on weekends while he worked full time at Kennedy Airport as an Aircraft Mechanic. The couple had three children: F. Michael of Northport, Nancy Dusek-Gomez of Tampa, Florida and Linda Staskowski of Pensacola, Florida. He worked hard, played hard and loved hard and was dedicated to his family and flying. Frank served in the US Navy during WWII on the USS Cabildo LSD16, skirting post bombed Hiroshima as his ship picked up POWs in the Pacific. He built a Taylor Craft Airplane in his garage and flew it from Republic Airport for many years. He renovated sail and motorboats to fish and swim with his family on LI Sound. A parishioner of St Philip Neri Catholic Church since 1962 and member of the Holy Name Society.  Frank shared happy times at the local Moose Club and Northport American Legion.  Known for his kindness and strength, he helped all in need of a home, a meal, a car or house repair or a friendly pat on the back. He never uttered a mean word about anyone.  He was a true Christian and will be sadly missed by his children, 9 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandsons. Visitation will be held at Nolan Funeral Home on Sunday Sept. 3,2023 from 2-6 pm. Mass of Christian Burial at St Philip Neri Church 10 am on Monday Sept 4th followed by Interment at Calverton National Cemetery. In lieu of floral arrangements the family requests flowering plants or bushes to be planted around his beloved Ft Salonga Home. Donations may be made in his honor to the Catholic Health Good Shepard Hospice, 110 Bi-County Blvd., Ste 114, Farmingdale, NY 11735 or VA Medical Center, Home Bound Patient Care, 79 Middleville Rd., Northport, NY11768.
