I am very sorry that Doris Sullivan has left this world. She and her late husband, Tom, were a magnificent couple. I admired Tom and Doris Sullivan long before I met them because I met Pat and Mary Sullivan in Washington D.C. over 40 years ago and I sensed that these two "girls" then had great parents. The stories they told me about their family always included humor and an essential act of kindness towards a neighbor or a customer at the butcher shop. In the early 1990s, Pat brought Tom and Doris for a visit to my farm in central Virginia. All of my assumptions about these two lovely human beings were confirmed: they exemplified the "better angels of our nature." I am so lucky to have known them and had them touch my life.

My beloved Grandmother has always been a guiding light for so many. Her ever present love and kindness touched so many many lives it is beyond count. Through all of those hearts she has touched she lives on. We who knew her in life are so blessed and should continue her legacy of love, kindness and joy. Although she now keeps company with angels her lasting memory lives on within all those whom she loved.

Sending our deepest condolences. We love Aunt Doris and will miss her warmth and positivity. This picture was from the first time Aunt Doris met Katie. The funny story was that baby Katie had a messy diaper that leaked onto Aunt Doris when she held her. Aunt Doris just laughed and said they had a bond now ! With love and sadness from the Fagan family.

Doris was a wonderful woman who was generous of spirit. She accepted me as a friend of Eileen’s immediately even when she could have seen me as a negative influence. Doris was interested in and supportive of me, my family and the endurance of our friendship. She was an example to me of a traditional, yet strong woman and I will miss her.

To this day when I smell talcum powder, I think of the bathroom at 2932 Campbell Avenue. I spent an entire summer at that house in the early/mid ‘50s. Doris and Nana would get everybody up for breakfast, except for Tom, already on the way to the butcher shop. Doris and Nana served breakfast to the girls and me: OJ, cereal, pancakes, bacon & eggs - always something good. Then off to the woods with my friend Dennis, back again to a much needed bath, sometimes needing two. Doris was a great cook. Every supper was a banquet. Before Doris was a Met fan, she was a Dodger fan. The “Bums” televised more games than any other team and we watched a lot of games. A summer filled with baseball, woods, Bungalow Bar and Good Humor, swimming pool, Jones Beach, and Aunt Doris. Best summer ever. I love her so much. I’ll always miss her.
