Obituary of Helen N. Hagen

Helen Nyitray Hagen, of Centerport, NY, passed away on November 15, 2023 at 76 years of age.

Born to the late Paul and Margaret Nyitray, Helen was raised and educated in Garwood, NJ. Upon graduating high school, she attended business school in Minnesota to follow her dream of becoming a stewardess. But since she was too tall and didn't meet the height requirements, she settled on being a ticket agent for National Airlines in Manhattan, where she met her future husband, Charles. Together they traveled around the world before marrying in 1972. Later they moved to Centerport, NY where she raised her three children and was a nursery school teacher at Noah's Ark Nursery School for 20+ years. Helen was a devoted and loving wife, mother, and sister. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and was known for her baking, sewing, intelligence, patience and caring heart.

Helen is survived by her husband Charles A. Hagen. A devoted mother to her daughter Karen Kantaros (Matt), and sons, Charles J. Hagen (Julie) and William Hagen. Beloved grandmother to Madison, Braeden, Alexander and Rachel. Fond sister to Teresa Nyitray, Lajos Nyitray (Silvia), Anna Nyitray and the late Irene Cornelius. Caring aunt of Donna, James, Samantha, John, Kristina, and Matthew.

The viewing will be at Nolan Funeral Home, 5 Laurel Ave, Northport, NY from 2-6 PM on November 19th. Funeral Mass will be at 10 AM the following day at Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Church, Centerport, with interment at Huntington Rural Cemetery.
