Obituary of William K. Wright
William K. Wright, a longtime resident of Northport, has sadly passed away on November 16, 2023. Bill was my loving husband and devoted Dad to Courtney and her husband Michael, Mollie and her husband Chris, and Kate and her husband Russ. He was the fun and cherished Grandpa of Kaitlin, Scarlet, Zoey, Russ and Mick. Bill was the son of the late Hildur and Russ Wright, and brother to Hilary (brother-in-law Steve) and Doug, who all share in our grief. Bill was the love of my life and my constant partner in all things. Our memories from a life shared reflects the love and commitment we had to each other and to our loving daughters. Bill was a graduate of Northport High School, The University of Vermont, and The School of Health Sciences-Touro Manhattan PA Program. During his varied and interesting career as a Physician Assistant Bill worked for Good Samaritan Hospital, both Suffolk County and Manhattan Medical Examiner's Offices, the LI State Veterans Home-Stony Brook, and Suffolk Orthopedic Associates. Throughout his years of higher education and employment Bill's easy going nature made him wonderful lifetime friends, who then became our family's lifetime friends. We are so grateful for them. After the terrorist attacks on The World Trade Center, Bill returned to the Medical Examiner's Office in Manhattan to volunteer his services. He extended his service for a year at the request of the Chief Medical Examiner, where he continued to honorably and respectfully fulfill the critical responsibilities so urgently needed by that office at that devastating time. Family life in our home was a busy one, and not without the challenges that go with that. We powered through with the love and dedication we had for one another, creating a balance that came from talking things over and making time for each other where we could, amidst the lovely chaos of a married couple with an active family. Getting together with our kids, our extended family, and our close friends were some of our best times. Throughout those busy years it was often difficult for Bill to make time for his other interests, like golf, sailing and ice hockey. He made loyal Yankee, Giants, Islander and Ranger fans of us. He loved woodworking, making lovely presents for all of us. We shared his love of camping and travel, and there was always music and dancing in the house. It was soccer, however, that was a special commitment for our whole family. Many fun and exciting years were spent as fan and coach of our daughters' and granddaughters' soccer teams, with a volunteer stint as president of the Northport Cow Harbor United Soccer Club. Upon our retirement in 2016, Bill and I made many memorable and amazing trips in our Sprinter van that we renovated ourselves, driving it far and wide across our beautiful and breathtaking country. I thank God for every day we spent together and all the good things that we brought to each other, like our beautiful and devoted daughters, our wonderful sons-in-law, our sweet grandkids, our beloved pups and the blessed friends who were always welcome in our home. God Bless You my sweet Bill. We will cherish our memories with you always. Memorial Visiting Friday January 5th from 7-9PM, Saturday January 6th from 2-4PM. Religious Prayers at 3:45 on Saturday, with words of remembrance to follow.
