Obituary of Robert J. Varese
Robert J. Varese, 91, of Jamesville, passed away Wednesday, January 10, surrounded by his family. Born and raised in Brooklyn, Bob went on to pursue higher education, acquiring a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and a Master of Science in Nursing. He served in various positions including director of nursing at numerous VA medical centers. Bob was a devoted volunteer fireman with the Northport Fire Department and Pompey Hill Fire Department.
Bob was predeceased by Mary, his beloved wife of 40 years; stepson, Brett Brawdy; grandchildren, Brandon Brawdy, Jessica Brawdy, and Charles Varese; parents, Hugo and Carmela; former wife, Evelyn; brother, Eugene; and sister, Concetta Mingino.
Surviving are his six children; four stepchildren; 29 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.
Friends and family are invited to pay their respects to Bob on Saturday, March 16 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. A funeral service will follow in the funeral home.
Bob will be laid to rest alongside his wife, Mary in Genola Cemetery, East Northport, NY.
